The company was founded in 1994 to provide a sub-contract machining and precision assembly service to industry specialising in the machining of stainless steels and aluminium and has experienced continual growth each year since its founding.
The philosophy of the Directors is to continually re-invest in the business when the opportunities arise to enable the company to have the latest machinery and equipment whereby production of high quality parts at competitive prices can be achieved.
From modest beginnings in 1994 with 4 people and a couple of CNC and Manual machine tools in a 1,000 sq. ft. factory the company has grown where it now employs over 20 highly skilled and motivated people and presently resides in a 9,000 sq. ft. factory in Musselburgh.

1997 Lazer sees further expansion with the formation of a fabrication division specialising in high precision, high quality stainless steel fabrications. Workforce reaches 15 skilled employees |

1998 Lazer wins the Best Business in East Lothian award presented by the East Lothian Small Business Club |

1999 Lazer Fabrication builds a new 9,500 sq. ft. factory on behalf of Lazer Engineering |

2000 Lazer Engineering Ltd moves into its new custom built factory. |

2001 Lazer Engineering purchases some of the assets and goodwill of NAC Allan a gear and pulley manufacturer which closed due to retirement of the owner, NAC Allan 2001 Ltd. is started and employees 10 of the original workforce total workforce reaches 26 |

2003 A management buy out sees current directors, Jim Cairney , David Grundison and David Kinross take over the company |

2005 A new company Lazer Engineering Services Ltd is started to provide a servicing and engineering support facility to non-engineering companies. Design and manufacture of bespoke items , supplying of alternative parts and expertise in outsourcing to have truly competitive prices. |

At LAZER we believe that a good supplier is a fundamental partner of the business and that through good working relationships they can enhance the overall performance of any business. This is a philosophy that we both practice and preach. We have a very flexible approach to our work, where if requested, we can help develop products through suggested design modifications to a product or by getting involved from the very start of a project where the product can be engineered to give the best value for money at acceptable time scales.
